Scott Steidl has written for full orchestra, classical and popular chamber groups and music theater. Described stylistically as "All American" by John Rockwell of the New York Times, his recognitions include three top ASCAP composer grants, the Alexander Gretchaninov Scholarship, the Irving Berlin Prize from the Juilliard School, the Sigvold Thompson Composition Competition award and finalist place for the Rudolf Nissim Prize. Scott is a Juilliard trained composer holding two doctoral degrees, one of them in Fine Arts from the Juilliard School. He also has a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Juilliard and two bachelor's degrees. Steidl worked with legendary composers Elliott Carter, Peter Mennin, Vincent Persichetti and David Diamond. His musicals Wesley, Young Adulteries, Miss. Schumann's Quartet, and Close Enough for Jazz were all produced in New York City Off and Off Off Broadway. Scott has had orchestral commissions and theater works performed around the country. His orchestral LP Fire Dreams, was recorded by The New Zealand Symphony.
